The focus on architectural lighting is currently on the rise. There are more and more demands for this type of lighting installation, which are also being met by public actors such as town councils, provincial councils and cultural heritage sites.
This lighting offers a second life to these historic buildings and monuments when the sunlight disappears, enhancing the beauty of the historic heritage and turning it into a tourist attraction.
This type of application is often used in buildings open to the public, private buildings, facades and monuments, improving the aesthetics and comfort of the space. Consideration should also be given to the choice of the product and its installation so that there is no light pollution, but it enhances and adds visibility to the architecture.
Town Hall of La Unión: Architectural beauty by day and by night
The City Council of La Union (Murcia) renews the lighting of its facade using the latest technology. The building, considered an Asset of Cultural Interest for its architectural beauty, has benefited from a new lighting installation to maximise the aesthetics of its forms and provide greater visibility at night.
To achieve ideal monumental lighting, a complete solution that includes projection luminaires in harmony with the requirements of the space is essential. At the same time, a lighting design that accentuates the architectural forms through a play of light and shadow should be taken into account, providing the nocturnal presence that the building deserves.
From Prilux, we have been part of the project through the installation of LED projectors PAD AVANT RGBW that, combined with our own control systems, offer the possibility of generating a visual spectacle by changing the color of the lighting.
In addition, the installed control system allows to manage the lighting through timelines where it is possible to configure from fixed colors to a combination of colors and movements. This mapping system exposes the possibility of obtaining a physical location map of the luminaires to take into account the precise location of each luminaire when configuring different colors and effects. It also makes it possible to automate the control of the installation thanks to a series of activators such as pushbutton panels, time control, twilight clock, moon cycle control, etc., without neglecting the management from the web interface integrated in the device itself.
The benefits of this installation are, among others, the correct illumination of the facade of this historic building, which, in addition to enhancing its architectural beauty, makes it a tourist attraction that can boost the local economy.
The project has also received an excellent reception thanks to the outstanding visual result and the subtlety of the installation. The selection of projectors such as LED PAD AVANT RGBW makes it possible for the lighting infrastructure to go unnoticed without interfering with the architecture thanks to the size of the installed product.
In addition, it is worth noting the good performance of the projectors, whose capacity makes it possible to bathe the facades of buildings in color for the celebration of national holidays and the commemoration of important dates or international days. Along the same lines, the change of color also allows the city council to show support for different social causes, or to express its solidarity with certain social movements, through the symbolic use of color.
